The three sealing forms of horizontalslurry pump have their own advantages and disadvantages.
First of all, the packing seal is a commonly used sealing form, which continuously maintains a certain pressure in the packing by injecting the shaft sealing water
to prevent the leakage of the pump body slurry. In multistage series pumps that are not suitable for the use of impeller shaft seals, packing shaft seals are usually
used. This seal has the advantages of simple structure, convenient maintenance and relatively low price.
Secondly, the impeller seal is to prevent the slurry leakage through a reverse centrifugal force of the impeller. When the positive pressure value of the pump inlet
is not greater than 10% of the pressure value of the pump outlet, the primary pump of the single-stage pump or multi-stage series pump can be used. This kind
of seal has the advantages of no sealing water, no diluting slurry and good sealing effect. Therefore, in the case that dilution is not allowed in the slurry, this
sealing form can be considered.
Finally, mechanical seals are generally suitable for occasions with high sealing requirements, such as some chemical and food fields. It not only requires a good
sealing effect, but also does not allow additional components to enter the pump body. However, the cost of mechanical seals is higher and maintenance is more
difficult.
The slurry pump needs to be placed on land in the work, the suction pipe is placed in the water, and the pump needs to be started. Due to structural limitations,
the motor needs to be placed on the water surface when the mud pump and the liquid slurry pump work, and the pump is put into the water, so it must be fixed.
Otherwise, the motor falling into the water will cause the motor to be scrapped. In addition, because the long shaft length is generally fixed, the installation and
use of the pump may be more troublesome, and the application is also subject to certain restrictions.
If there is aspare pump, it is recommended that the two pumps be used alternately. If the pump is stuck, it can only be repaired. A net can be added to the water
inlet to prevent excessive impurities from entering the pump, so that the chance of getting stuck is much smaller.
